The level of fraudulent activity in the banking industry is becoming more prevalent and can be committed through any channel. It is important that fraud is dealt with in a timely manner and the impact to the customer is kept to a minimum.

The Fraud Operations team at Newcastle Permanent acts as the first line of defence by resolving all fraud and AML related matters as well as analysing, identifying and evaluating potential risks to the organisation. Within the Fraud Operations team, the Fraud Specialist is responsible for taking the lead on complex and high value investigations as well as identify and develop efficiencies and implement process improvements to ensure daily operation runs efficiently.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a Banking Fraud/AML role;
  • Knowledge and detailed understanding of AML/CTF legislation, ePayments Code and Visa regulations;
  • Strong analytical skills to be able to identify and monitor fraud trends;
  • Experience in investigating, gathering and reporting on data relating to Fraud activity;
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines;
  • Highly developed communications skills – both written and oral;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Fraud Monitoring Strategies and Detection Platforms; and
  • Ability to work within a flexible roster including after hours on call responsibilities.
