Primary Objective:

To contribute to a safe and secure environment for passengers and bus drivers on the Darwin bus network through the

effective delivery of customer safety and security service.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide effective customer services and a safe environment for all stakeholders on the Darwin bus


2. Handle customer complaints and enquiries in accordance with Department policies and the Code of


3. Provide a highly visible presence whilst promoting a positive image of the Department’s services and

communicating positive outcomes for passengers on the Darwin bus network.

4. Work in a potentially high pressure environment.

5. Gather evidence and prepare statements, reports and enter data as required.

6. Carry out tasks and functions as directed within the limitations of the position.

Selection Criteria:


1. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contemporary customer service techniques and how to

apply these in a variety of relevant situations, in a cross cultural environment.

2. Well-developed interactive and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage potential conflict situations

and proven experience in conflict resolution.

3. Well-developed personal organisation skills and the ability to establish priorities and to set and maintain


4. Possess written and verbal communication skills appropriate for the responsibilities of the position,

including computer literacy adequate to perform daily duties.

5. Well-developed ability to interpret and apply legislation including an understanding of Workplace Health

and Safety principles.

6. Proven ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and demonstrated integrity in dealing with

colleagues and the public in a fair and equitable manner.

7. Hold a current Senior First Aid Certificate (or the ability to gain) and a NT drivers licence (manual).


1. Knowledge of and or experience in the application of Criminal Law and the Rules of Evidence.

Further Information:

The successful applicant will be subject to a criminal history check and must either possess, or be willing and able to obtain

a Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), a Senior First Aid Certificate and NT Drivers Licence as well as undertake

psychometric testing. This position will be required to work outside of normal business hours.
