Primary Objective: Responsible for the provision of high quality and timely cleaning services in accordance with

Infection Prevention Management Unit, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and environmental Cleaning Standards.



Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provision of high quality efficient cleaning services and specific associated duties in accordance with WHS work

practices under the direction of Manager/Supervisor.

2. Contribute to achieve an efficient patient care service in accordance with Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) policy and

Australian Health Standards.

3. Work as part of a team and exercise appropriate behaviour and respect for staff, patients and visitors.

4. Ensure Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) with services integrated into all activities consistent with the Work

Unit Business Plan and the Top End Health Renal Services Strategic Plan.

5. Participate in Unit Team meetings, Staff Education and Performance Development Programs (PDP).

6. Follow defined service quality standards, WHS policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.



Selection Criteria:

Essential:

1. Proven knowledge of Hospital Cleaning and the ability to operate industrial cleaning equipment and ensure safe

handling of chemicals.

2. Demonstrated understanding of Infection Control and Quality Assurance processes.

3. Ability to work within a diverse team, use initiative as situations arise, prioritise workload to complete tasks within

required time frames and work with minimal supervision.

4. Ability to work all shifts and days, in various renal locations to meet the needs of the service.

5. Demonstrated good English communication skills oral, reading, writing and comprehension, appropriate for work

environment.

6. An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.



Desirable:

1. Previous experience dealing with the public and/or working in a health care environment.

2. Certificate II and III in Cleaning Operations and basic computer skills.

3. Knowledge of the Hospital Cleaning and Infection Control Guidelines and the ability to quickly apply knowledge to

work practices.

4. Knowledge and understanding of Quality Assurance and WHS requirements.
