Essential requirements - applicants must: 
  • hold relevant Tertiary qualifications and/or have demonstrated experience in statistics or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

The Statistician contributes to the development, analysis and production of accurate, timely and appropriate corporate information and other statistical products relating to corporate activity, results and outcomes for the information and use of NSW Police Force Senior Executive and Government.


Key accountabilities 
  • Collate and analyse data from various corporate systems to facilitate briefings on a range of business performance and other issues.
  • Extract and prepare data and other statistical information for provision to government, external agencies, the media, the public and others.
  • Provide advice concerning the application of appropriate statistical methodologies.
  • Undertake quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy of NSW Police Force data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and analysis of internal and external surveys.
  • Contribute to a knowledge base of contemporary statistical and analytical methodologies to enable high quality statistical products. 
Key challenges
  • Contribute to the enhancement of NSW Police Force data sources / systems and recommending appropriate information to suit requirements
  • Confirming the accuracy, validity and reliability of NSW Police Force data and its appropriate use
  • Producing quality statistical products in response to high volume demand, often within tight and strict deadlines.
