The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Writer to join our Asset Initiatives team within Sydney Trains. This position plays a key role in writing end-user technical reports for a wide range of audiences, end-to-end documentation, implementation of reporting processes and improvement projects, developing user manuals and guides.

 

We are looking for a tertiary qualified professional in a relevant quantitative field with proven practical experience in a technical writing position, preferably related to physical asset management of rail infrastructure or equivalent complex operational systems. Your experience will cover highly developed English Language writing skills to create technical documentation, ability to write in both explanatory and procedural styles for multiple audiences, analysis, manipulation, reporting, information gathering and research. You will have good analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively across all levels with a focus on continuous improvement.

 
Key Duties:
  • Work with internal and external teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the processes and the documentation requirements including the new guidelines and processes;
  • Produce high-quality documentation (reports, plans, procedures, templates);
  • Create technical documentation, user guides and tutorials to help end-users;
  • Analyse operational reports and write briefings and business cases in support of stakeholder requirements.
