Position Information

Temora High School (THS) (350 students 7-12) is located 85 km north of Wagga in the northern Riverina. The school serves a strong, progressive, active, and supportive rural community in the northern Riverina.

Teachers at Temora High deliver a broad range of Stage 4, 5 and 6 courses with an emphasis on developing well rounded, innovative and self-directed learners. This is demonstrated through a strong focus on teaching and learning, wellbeing, Literacy & learning support programs, and a broad range of extra-curricular opportunities for students
Programs offered embrace a wide range of Academic areas including visual arts, music, drama, dance, language, band, and student wellbeing / leadership. This is complemented by a strong and expanding vocational education and training focus, as well as a broad range of career initiatives within the school. Temora High School has a recently completed $1,000,000 Trade Skills Centre. At THS we attempt to equip students to shape their futures.
The Head Teacher English / History will lead a diverse faculty in implementing the English / History / LOTE (Korean) curricula to a high standard. This position is also responsible for leading Literacy and Gifted & Talented Programs and the optimal use of Information and Communications Technologies in teaching and learning.

The THS executive team comprising of the Principal, Deputy Principal and Head Teachers are committed to leading the school as a team in the implementation of the goals of the school plan which includes quality teaching & learning, staff & student welfare, staff professional development and parent/community relationships.

This position of leadership of English / History / LOTE faculty will also include contributing to the management of organisational structures within the school, supervision of the librarian & library & any literacy programs in operation within the school as well as Gifted & talented (GFP), as well as other whole school responsibilities as are appropriate and negotiated.

Selection Criteria

 Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position.

In addition to the general selection criteria the successful applicant must have;
-Approval to teach English Years 7-12 and History 7-12 and relevant skills and/or experience in teaching English extensions 1 and 2.
-A demonstrated capacity to lead the development and implementation of quality & innovative and inclusive teaching and learning programs.
-A demonstrated ability to initiate & lead collaborative reflection on faculty practices to improve student learning outcomes.
-A demonstrated commitment to whole school projects and a capacity to lead & manage change as a collaborative member of the school leadership team.
-A demonstrated ability to analyse data to lead the development and delivery of literacy initiatives to improve the learning outcomes of a diverse range of students including gifted and talented.
-A demonstrated understanding of the educational needs of students in a rural school and living in a rural community.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
