  • We are looking to establish a Range Officer talent pool which will be valid for up to 12 months for casual opportunities.
  • The role is based at the Sydney International Shooting Centre
  • Salary $30.07 per hour

The Office of Sport works with key sector partners to promote and deliver a vibrant and valued sport and active recreation sector that enhances the lives of the people of NSW.
The Office is responsible for planning, managing and delivering high quality venues, facilities, sport and active recreation development programs, high-performance sport, sports integrity and safety. It is also the driver for NSW sport policy and strategy, the formation and dissemination of insights and information, and the promotion of partnerships.
About the role
The Range Officer provides assistance to the Range Supervisor to perform maintenance and preparation of facilities and equipment as well as supervision of ranges in accordance with pre-approved plans and Safe Operating Procedures.
A bit about you
* You have significant experience handling firearms and supervising a shooting range.
* You have experience in coaching or instructing (not essential but highly desirable).
* You have an understanding of target sports (not essential but highly desirable).
* You are aware of safety requirements and can deal with incidents and emergency situations.
* You enjoy dealing with a variety of customers and can adapt service delivery to meet their needs.
* You enjoy working in a team but can also work autonomously.
Essential Requirements
* Current Firearms License (Class A and B), and ability to obtain Class H.
* Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence

* Ability to work weekends and evenings as required

Pre-screening questions
1. Describe a time where you had to deal with a difficult customer. What actions did you take to develop an appropriate solution to meet the needs of your customer?
2. Describe a time where you identified a compliance breech, how did you go about resolving it?
3. What experience and skills do you have that would enable you to perform duties in the ballistic test range, armoury or operations of targetry.
