About Metro

We operate and maintain Melbourne’s Metropolitan train network. Successfully transporting over 400,000 passengers per day is achieved by our large dedicated workforce. With multiple large projects being completed, we continually work hand-in-hand with all external businesses involved to ensure that new assets comply with the standards we set.

Our dedicated Rolling Stock Team upgrade, service and maintain all three existing train fleets that service the Melbourne Metropolitan Rail Network. Keeping this service running is only a small part of the process. In addition to maintaining the fleet, we also look to make improvements to the technology and extend the life of these vital assets.

The Position

Reporting to the Depot Manager at our Newport Train Maintenance Facility, the Rotables Officer will manage the delivery of parts and materials to the depot, handling queries and issues as they require and reporting these back to the Depot Manager. They will be able to manager the inventory of parts via our reliability and maintenance software.

Leading a team of store people, this position will also direct staff in their duties. This will include arranging work rosters, organising training (whether it’s on-the-job or external), setting tasks and ensuring that everybody is working within Metro Trains policies and procedures.

You will hold a Certificate III in Transport and Distribution and have experience in leading a team in warehouse duties. This experience would’ve been in a warehouse that stocks various parts or industrial inventory that was managed with software (Ellipse and/or RIMS experience desirable).

You will understand the importance of clear communication and have experience where you have dealt with both internal and external stakeholders. A forklift licence would be a desirable ticket to hold.
