The Role:

Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) is seeking an experienced Safety, Environment, Risk and Quality Manager to support the Projects Division. The role of the Safety, Environment, Risk and Quality Manager is to ensure the MTM Projects integrated management system (Safety, Environment, Risk and Quality) is developed and maintained. They will also be responsible for the development and execution of the MTM Projects Safety, Environment, Risk and Quality (SERQ) improvement plan whilst also ensuring that an effective SERQ governance/assurance program is in place.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Actively manage and maintain key stakeholder engagement i.e. PTV, MMRA, LXRA, WorkSafe
• Apply knowledge of legislative, policy, standards and regulation relating to the rail construction industry
• Develop and implement short and long term SERQ Strategies in line with contractual commitments
• Develop, maintain and communicate clear role descriptions and accountability statements, on-going training programmes, performance criteria and reviews to create a climate conducive to high performance
• Ensure an effective risk management framework is established, embedded and monitored across the Franchisee – Delivery
• Ensure the professional and timely investigation into the reporting and tracking of occurrences and incidents
• Ensure SERQ performance data and trends are recorded, reported on and maintained in accordance with MTM & regulatory requirements

About You

You will be a seasoned professional, ideally with previous rail experience and qualifications to match. You will be comfortable working across a large team and as well as having:

• Tertiary qualifications in either Transport Operations, Safety, Environment and Risk, Engineering or Business Management
• Specific qualifications/ training in Safety, Environment and Risk, Investigations or Environmental Management
• Chartered status or accredited membership of an appropriate professional body associated with some or all of the job requirements
• Experience in co-coordinating and implementing SERQ systems and procedures to ensure that legislative requirements are met
• Experience in carrying out risk assessments at a project level
• Experience and knowledge of principles of Quality Assurance and Compliance
