The Position

The Engineering Standards Manager  will provide engineering standard strategy, policy and direction for MTM with the aim of developing and maintaining a suite of technical documents (Standards, Specification, Procedures, etc.) to support the design, construction, maintenance, operation and renewal of the Melbourne Metropolitan Railway Network.

Collaborating with all disciplines within the Engineering Department and our external project teams (and suppliers), this position will manage a hierarch of engineering standards and prioritise the development and improvements of these documents. Overseeing the change process at the department and across the wider business is key to ensuring that all stakeholders are involved in the development of these but also adhere to any changes.


You will require Tertiary qualification in Engineering that is suitable for membership of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, or an appropriate technical qualification with proven industry capability. Previous experience in the Rail Industry will be needed to quickly understand the requirements.

Efficiencies are the outright goal of the position. Knowledge of rail industry statutory obligations, regulations and Metro Trains Melbourne policies will ensure alignment with engineering strategies.
