Tourism Marketing Executive

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) manages the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), one of Australia’s greatest assets. The MCG is host to more than 70 major events annually attracting over three million patrons and visitors.

A fantastic opportunity has become available to join the Commercial Operations & Partnerships Team as the Tourism Marketing Executive. Reporting to the Marketing Services Manager, you will deliver the MCG and National Sports Museum (NSM) visitor strategy covering international and domestic markets. This includes review, development and execution of annual marketing and action plan to deliver increased awareness, visitation and revenue to MCG and NSM tourism products and experiences. You will also be responsible for identifying and managing tourism partnerships with affiliates, industry and peak bodies to increase visitation to the MCG and NSM.

In brief, the successful candidate will also be required to:

  • Deliver tourism marketing campaigns in collaboration with Commercial Operations Team
  • Identify product development opportunities and recommend pricing strategies targeted at the tourist market
  • Use an evidence-based approach to develop and execute targeted marketing and communications
  • Work with the Membership and Heritage teams to enhance the experience and access to MCG visitor products
  • Engage and manage agreements with inbound tourist operators and other third parties to increase visitation to the stadium and National Sports Museum
  • Represent the MCG at tourism and trade events
  • Work with peak bodies, such as the City of Melbourne, Melbourne Convention Bureau, Visit Victoria and Tourism Australia, to leverage additional visitation from major conferences and events held in Melbourne

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (tourism/marketing/business)
  • Sound understanding of the visitor experience
  • Experience working in and sound understanding of the tourism and visitor industry
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability in increasing visitation numbers to a destination
  • Flexibility to work on evenings/weekends/public and school holidays
  • Experience in visitor destination and product development
