Reporting to the State Manager the Branch Manager is responsible for the management and ultimately the branch performance across all aspects of the branch operations including financial business development and people management


As the first point of contact for the team in relation to escalation of issues providing technical advice and support to staff this position will contribute to the success of the business by directly managing the day to day operational activities of the Branch to achieve the desired sales targets

Operational Management

  • Assists with the development of budgets and forecasts to enable setting of key branch performance objectives for approval by State Manager
  • Promotes continuous improvement initiatives with ongoing reviews of lead generation and sales processes
  • Review and report on branch performance in accordance with agreed timelines and quality standards
  • Works with the team both as a group and as individuals to achieve daily monthly and annual KPIs lead generation and sales targets
  • Maintain up to date records of all current and potential customers in the territory and actively participate in and supervise promotional activities to ensure existing connections are well supported and new business opportunities are maximised
  • In conjunction with the State Manager plan and implement sales and marketing strategies and activities within branch geographic area
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with representatives of major product suppliers by regular performance reviews and promotional activities
  • Participate and contribute positively to the State Management Team meetings and projects
  • Provide regular feedback to the State Manager and fellow branch management team members on issues of interest and business development opportunities
  • Responsible for ensuring all sales transactions undertaken by the branch are compliant with legislative regulatory and MMSG policy requirements through regular auditing of team performance
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives within the branch to minimise business risk
  • Track and report to management on performance against compliance requirements
  • Carry out customer file reviews (both operational and performance) to ensure activities are within policy and procedural guidelines
  • Provide practical guidance education training and ongoing support to branch staff to ensure compliance with processes
  • Ensure branch IT processes are in accordance with MMSG standards with particular emphasis on data security and protection
  • Manage escalated customer complaints in accordance with established standards


People Management


  • Set appropriate expectations for all direct reports by completing a performance planning and development system (PPDS) for each staff member and conduct reviews in line with MMSG guidleines to assess progress
  • Provides coaching and feedback on an informal day to day basis as well as via regular one on one catch ups and performance reviews
  • Ensure that staff achieve all accreditation certifications within policy timelines
  • Identifies training needs and recommend to management appropriate training to support these needs
  • Develop and implement an effective branch staff training development and succession plan and regularly monitor progress
  • Monitors cultural climate of the Branch and works to support and maintain high levels of employee engagement
  • Effectively manage staff turnover absenteeism and annual leave liability

  • In depth understanding of finance company operations across a wide range of consumer and small commercial finance (motor finance related) products
  • Demonstrated sales development skills with particular emphasis on the motor trade and associated industries
  • Excellent communication presentation organisational and interpersonal skills
  • MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) software to intermediate level
  • General working knowledge of applicable legislation
  • Personal experience in the motor retail trade and or finance company operations generally
  • Experience in business and equipment finance lending products
  • An already established network of contacts and associates in the territory introducer or broking environment
  • Experience in marketing and finance product development
