Help our Infrastructure & Works team run like a well-oiled machine.

At Maitland City Council, our Infrastructure & Works group is responsible for building and maintaining Maitland’s roads, footpaths, playgrounds, public amenities, parks and other public facilities. We are looking for an Apprentice Plant Mechanic to keep the wheels spinning on our plant, fleet and equipment under the supervision of our qualified Plant Mechanics, so that we can continue to provide these services.

About the role:

As our Apprentice Plant Mechanic, you will be provided with on the job training and will attend TAFE in one week blocks as required to successfully complete a Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology. You will also provide support to the workshop team by assisting with the maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment and the general workshop environment. Record keeping of the plant, labour and materials used is also required to be tracked.

About you:

To become the new member of Council’s team, you will be interested in the automotive industry, and have a strong initiative to succeed. You must also be able to meet TAFE’s pre-requisite requirements to undertake a Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology. Your ability to communicate clearly and solve mathematical problems will set you apart from the crowd. It is just as important that the successful candidate is able to positively contribute to the team and can assist the team to achieve their goals.

Salary:

This is a full time role with a salary starting at $669.40 per week for a year 12 school leaver. Full pay scale can be found on the role charter.
