Lifestyle Solutions is seeking applications from experienced, resourceful and committed Support Workers to join our Community Justice Program in the Parkes area. Through this Program, we provide support to people with an intellectual or physical disability who have had contact with, or are at risk of entering, the Criminal Justice System.  Support is provided through drop in and residential services to people with intellectual disability, cognitive deficit, personality disorder, or mild to serious mental illness to find significant benefit and work towards living independently in the community.

We are looking for Support Workers who can provide positive encouragement, help to build and develop relationships within the community, encourage life skills and who inspire confidence in those around them. This position involves quite a lot of travel to the people we support in Parkes, Orange, Quambone and other Central West locations. There will be a fleet car available from the Parkes office for travel.

To be the successful candidate you will need to meet the following essential criteria:

  • Drivers Licence
  • First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • National Criminal history check clearance
  • Experience working with complex trauma backgrounds
  • Experience working with people who display difficult or challenging behaviours
  • Ability to build rapport with Community programs and services
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • To be able to remain calm in high crisis situations  
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team

It would be desirable if you had the following:

  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Youth Work, Welfare, Disability or Community Services
  •  Experience working with people with disabilities and complex needs
