The role requires flexibility and adaptability to perform across various parts of the JLL Defence account.  Where required, the successful candidate may also be required to manage other small to medium sized Commonwealth (primarily Defence) projects.

The projects are varied, including variations in project value, complexity and locations across Australia. Project categories may include but are not limited to infrastructure, office, aviation, industrial, accommodation, warehouses and workshops, training areas and ranges, marine, fuel farms, hazardous areas, healthcare, site audits, land management, environmental, heritage and remediation and therefore provide the successful applicant the opportunity to learn and broaden their skill set and experience in a complex environment.

Project managing tight deadlines, providing timely accurate reports and effectively managing a variety of stakeholders are all critical aspects of this role. You will demonstrate superior communication skills, with the ability to build and foster successful relationships with your clients and stakeholders. In addition you will have resilience and have the capacity to deliver projects in a fast paced environment.

Sound like you? This is what we're looking for:

Applicants must have client side experience and will need to demonstrate suitable competence in the following activities.

  • Client liaison and stakeholder management
  • The Defence major projects lifecycle
  • Project Management and Contract Administration under various contracting models from project inception to the conclusion of the Defects Liability Period
  • Engagement, management and coordination of consultants
  • Managing design review
  • Managing approvals, including but not limited to Government, Parliamentary and Authority Approvals
  • Procuring and administering works contractors including during the Defects Liability Period

You will have previous Project Management experience and be tertiary qualified in Engineering, Architecture, Building & Construction, or a related discipline.
Prior experience on major Defence related infrastructure projects would be advantageous.

An ability to travel away from home locations for short periods will be necessary to effectively manage the projects across the Defence Estate.

The successful candidate will report to the Account Director, along with the senior team and team of project managers. The role requires coordinating thought and leadership skills to encourage maximum contributions of all participants in the team, client, and project, and focus these to maximise outcomes for all stakeholders.

The Account Director is based in Canberra, so the ability to work remotely and independently is a key consideration where respondents are not Canberra based.
