Job description:
IBM Global Procurement is part of the Transformation and Operations team, responsible for acquiring goods and services efficiently and effectively for external stakeholder accounts and IBM internal use. 

The open role, a Facilities Sourcing Solutions Commodity­ Team Leader/Sourcing Buyer position, is for an Advisory Procurement Professional responsible for Strategic Sourcing in the A/NZ region.

The position will include overall sourcing responsibility for the following commodity categories:
  • Site Maintenance
  • Construction
  • Furniture/Carpet & Floor Coverings
  • Environmental
  • Utilities
  • Security
In cooperation with the worldwide procurement team, this role will see you negotiate with all levels of supplier management to develop appropriate contracts and business relationships which have significant impact on supplier's operation (i.e. penalties, incentives, quality) and which satisfy IBM's current and future needs.
 
Responsible for supporting procurement activities within region/geography including moderate value/risk commodities, critical technology and moderately complex parts or subassemblies. You will Interface with suppliers on issues that affect supplier operations and IBM strategic supply issues, developing and implementing supply chain initiatives that provide end-to-end integrated opportunities for efficiency.
 
You will establish, execute and track project plans, utilizing an applied knowledge of fundamental project management techniques We are looking for someone who can confidently recommend and implement improvements in business processes, inter-country communication and employee skill building for IBM's procurement team.
 
To succeed in your new role with IBM you will be comfortable with the following tasks and responsibilities.
  • Take a leadership role in shaping business processes.
  • Recommend and implement changes to key processes used throughout the procurement organization.
  • Establish plans, define approaches, conduct business analysis and document result within broad objectives.
  • Demonstrates commodity leadership and lead project planning.
  • Regularly provide commodity, business, and process advice and recommendations to management.
  • Direct other procurement/contracts professionals in performing marketing analysis, supplier competitive evaluation and selection, and the implementation of business strategies.
  • Monitor business, environmental and technological developments and makes necessary recommendations to IBM and supplier management.
  • Provide direction and training, set objectives and track progress.
Experience:
You will be a Procurement professional with a minimum 5+ years Procurement background at an enterprise level with strong skills in developing commodity management strategies, managing competitive tenders and successfully negotiating outcomes.
