IBM Global Procurement is part of the Transformation and Operations team, responsible for acquiring goods and services efficiently and effectively for IBM internal use and external stakeholder accounts. 
The open role, a Professional Services Category buyer position, is for an Advisory Procurement Professional responsible for Strategic Sourcing in the A/NZ region.   As a Services Category Buyer you will be responsible for strategic sourcing projects in sourcing/purchasing goods and services as well as undertaking Vendor Management activities associated with managing commercial relationships with Vendors on behalf of IBM.

You will be responsible for Category Management, Sourcing and Vendor Management activities, which includes detailed analysis and synthesis of internal requirements for particularly complex goods and services to, and analysis of complex external suppliers and markets to develop innovative and sustainable category strategies. 

In addition, you will be responsible for the commercial management of vendor agreements. You will be accountable for the end to end delivery of procurement activity in accordance with established procedures and controls.
We are looking for a Procurement professional with a minimum 3+ years experience at an enterprise level with strong skills in developing Category Management strategies and managing competitive tenders and successfully negotiating outcomes.
You will have highly developed influencing and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated experience managing commercial relationships with suppliers and driving performances along with proven ability working in a highly process driven environment.
In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience and capabilities:

  • Develop, deliver and lead sourcing and vendor management strategies

  • Lead cross function project teams where required

  • Provide forecast savings (and actuals where required)

  • Lead drafting of tender documentation

  • Lead negotiations and drafting of agreements

  • Perform analysis and recognise patterns in data to initiate incremental improvements and solutions to existing processes, products and systems in own area

  • Provide quality advice to the client based on technical knowledge

  • Escalate unanticipated variations for approval

  • Recommend step improvements in own area and between areas, including awareness of best practice

The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with client, peer groups, stakeholders will be the key to success in this role.
