ERM is seeking motivated candidates for the Partner role to help grow our established business in Sydney, Australia. The ideal candidate brings significant consulting experience and client relationships, in order to provide practice leadership, strategic direction, and cutting-edge technical support to grow the business.

As a senior leader, you will be accountable for successfully selling and consulting on power related projects to build a sustainable business locally, while networking with ERM's Global Technical Communities to share best practices across the industry. This is a Partner opportunity for a senior-level professional looking to advance their career to the next level with a global environmental leader, and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing ERM's global strategy.


Primary focus on client account development, sales, and delivery of the full spectrum of ERM’s consulting services to deliver strategic value to our clients. In particular, play a key role in growing ERM’s Power Sector across its broad portfolio of service offerings, both domestically and internationally.  As a Senior Leader you will primarily be accountable for:

  • Leading the capture of flagship market opportunities.
  • Through these key client roles provide leadership across the entire Power sector in the region with accountability for the growth and sales performance of the region in the Power sector
  • Leveraging strong personal client relationships into project sales.
  • Creating a culture of collaboration with teams and line management across the Region and globally.
  • Develop a strategy for our approach to the Power sector, identifying and prioritising our entry points to the sector
  • Building an effective sector organization and increasing the visibility of the sector.
  • Strengthening capability by promoting consistent ERM methodologies and training.
  • Identifying and developing key talent.
  • Operate as a member of the Regional Management Team, reporting the Regional Commercial Director

Strategic Thinking and Change Management:

  • Anticipate medium and long-term client needs and industry dynamics.
  • Understand how to align business to execute our strategy across the sector.
  • Ensure that the Power Sector works effectively as one network across the Region and in coordination with sector resources globally.


  • Be recognized by clients and ERM staff as a sector “insider”, one who understands and speaks the “language” of the Power Sector.
  • As this is a position of influence, must create a space that is energetic and fun so that colleagues will want to be part of it.
  • Be organizationally savvy in order to work across a matrix of line management, practices, and other sectors.

Clients and Markets:

  • Build a client-oriented approach to marketing, sales and sector development to give ERM a leading market position in targeted areas.
  • Lead a vibrant and high growth Key Client program.
  • Be actively engaged in the Top Opportunity program and be responsible for ensuring appropriate sector input and active assistance to the identified Top Opportunities.
  • Identify trends in client needs to create effective sales campaigns that can be driven up and down the Power Sector client list.
  • Commit to service excellence and enhancing the client’s experience.
  • Lead efforts to expand our service offerings to the Power Sector, especially those that are “solutions-oriented” or by assembling cross-practice solutions to meet a client’s distinct needs.


  • Lead the preparation of annual sales plans and budgets for the Power Sector in the Australia or Asia Pacific Region.
  • Create a sales pipeline with the potential to build year-on-year backlog based on close rates, burn rates, and staffing dynamics.
  • Steward the sales pipeline for the sector by inspecting information in our Client Relationship Management (CRM) database and improving use where needed.
  • Prepare monthly summary reports for regional and global management to demonstrate progress and plan future investments.

Talent Development:

  • Must be able to recruit top talent into the organization at all levels
  • Co-create and deliver training and development modules that are part of our ERM Academy approach to developing world class consultants with vibrant careers at ERM.
  • Coach and mentor staffs and specifically targeted individuals within the Power Sector on understanding client needs, articulating client value propositions (CVPs) that differentiate ERM, packaging offerings to meet these, developing effective delivery models, and identifying and managing commercial risk management issues.
  • Identify key sector talent within the Region and work with these individuals to stretch them to their full potential; ensure rising stars are nurtured, developed, and given new areas of responsibility.


The ideal candidate for this role will have experience, expertise and a track record of successful leadership:

  • Desirable to have experience across the full asset life cycle from new market entry and major capital project development through the operational phase and into asset retirement.
  • Experience in the operational and asset retirement phases of the asset life cycle
  • Strong operations experience to complement the capability that exists in the ERM regional team
  • BS in engineering/science and 10+ years of relevant consulting experience.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing successful business growth strategies in the Power sector, including established relationships with large-scale Power companies with buying centres throughout the Asia Pacific Region.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients, and book personal sales of significance in new consulting services annually.
  • Well-developed teambuilding and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and challenges.
  • Recognized technical expertise by and established reputation in the local marketplace.
  • Be organizationally savvy in order to work across a matrix of line management, practices, and other sectors.
  • Positive outlook, collaborative, and driven by the success of ERM as a global company.
