Job description:

Artbank is an Australian Government program that directly supports contemporary artists through the acquisition of their work, and promotes the value of Australian art to the broader community by making these artworks available to rent through a leasing program. There are around 10,000 artworks in the Artbank collection, and artworks are rented by private, commercial and government clients, and Australian embassies around the world. Artbank has been operating successfully for over 35 years.

The Head Curator is a key senior management position in Artbank with primary responsibility for overseeing the development and management of Artbank’s significant collection of Australian art. The role has a broad range of responsibilities including: managing a team of Curators and Registrars spread across two sites; leading the research for acquisitions for the collection; and overseeing the delivery of a curated program in support of Artbank’s core objectives. You will work collaboratively with the Senior Curator and Curator and Collection Coordinator to ensure best practice collection management and with the Registration team to ensure the application of appropriate practices for the handling, transport and installation of works from the collection.
