Defence Operations - Manager
About the opportunity
Our Defence Asset Management & Supply Chain team currently has a heavy maritime focus and there are immediate opportunities for our resources to obtain experience in a broad range of significant Defence maritime acquisition and sustainment programs.  In addition to this, our rapidly growing team are pursuing other Defence and non-Defence industry opportunities.
About the role
This role is focused on delivering services to the Department of Defence, however, as part of a broader Deloitte Consulting practice there will also be opportunities to work with other teams in delivering services to non-Defence clients and industries.
You will be responsible to independently manage large projects.  This will include:
  • Planning and executing all elements of projects to meet client needs
  • Comprehending how the client’s business operates and developing solutions in-line with client needs
  • Identifying and solving problems objectively using analysis, experience and judgement
  • Understanding all facets that impact a business and incorporating these into recommendations
  • Leading, managing and coaching staff across a range of work streams required to deliver the project.
  • Facilitating workshops with clients to gather information as required
  • Analytically analysing data and information to extract and convey key insights
  • Developing high quality deliverables to communicate results with clients
About your Experience
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
  • A valid Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (preferably NV1 or above).
  • More than 5 years’ professional experience in relevant disciplines
  • Excellent results in your degree qualification from a leading Australian or Overseas university or business school
  • Proven experience leading work streams and / or project teams
  • An ability to apply structured approaches to identify, understand and explain complex business problems
  • An ability to think critically and analytically in order to solve complex challenges
  • Natural intellectual curiosity and a drive to apply innovative solutions in solving problems
  • Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with clients
  • Desire to take early responsibility and aspiration for long-term leadership roles
