SALARY RANGE: $114,145 to $131,255 pa (plus 17% super)
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time and fixed term to Monday 31 December 2018
LOCATION: Warrnambool Campus


The successful applicant will make a substantial contribution to the planning and execution of various research projects held by Deakin Rural Health (DRH) and will undertake a Public Health Medicine training program through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

This will include:

  • Contributing to the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of research projects.
  • Involvement in and support for relevant community-level health promotion projects and programs.
  • Liaising with Aboriginal controlled health services to provide trainee with exposure to the cultural and health issues.
  • Aid in conducting needs assessments, develop, implement and evaluate public health policies and programs that will directly tackle the current workforce shortages and therefore rural health disparities.
  • Contribute to teaching in public health and population health programmes for medical, nursing and allied health programmes where practicable.
  • Be involved in professional activities, including attendance at conferences and seminars in public health medicine and research.


The position is open to registered medical practitioners who meet the eligibility requirements for the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) Advance Training Program.

Ideally you will have a significant interest in undertaking research in health related disciplines using both quantitative and qualitative methods.

The capacity to work independently, to use initiative and to work well within a team setting is expected.
