We are currently looking for a Category Manager/Senior Buyer (Direct and/or Indirect Procurement) to join our Supply Chain team, reporting to the General Manager – Supply Chain Category Management. The role and team require an autonomous self-starter who can work in a variety of circumstances

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Building effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers;
  • Managing a portfolio of categories, specifically Indirect food & beverage hospitality related goods and/or services;
  • Understanding market & industry conditions to develop sourcing strategies which aim to deliver reduced cost of goods and services;
  • Maintaining ongoing market cost competitiveness and post contract value using Supplier Relationship Management tools and processes such as regular contract management and review activities;
  • Understanding and effective mitigation of commercial risk including identification of alternative supply strategies
  • Identifying & delivering incremental opportunities for innovation and improvement, both internally and from within the supplier base
  • Managing supply chain data & systems;
  • Upholding the Compass group values in terms of ethics, supply chain sustainability and broader corporate social responsibility.

Your success in this role will stem from:

  • Demonstrated experience in category management or strategic buying, preferably within the hospitality, FMCG or support services sector/s
  • Proven capability in commercial analysis and procurement including management of RFx processes and procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of key indirect categories such as ideally Travel/Fleet/Packaging/Distribution/Clothing & Workwear/FM-related Services etc
  • Sound interpersonal skills – the ability to relate to different levels of internal and external customers to influence outcomes and behaviours
  • Proven capacity to coordinate and drive projects from start to finish
  • Capable of multi-tasking and effectively prioritise workload in a diverse environment
  • Proven results in seeking out opportunities for cost savings within your portfolio and across the business
  • Good level of MS Office including Advanced Excel Skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in related field an advantage – notably finance; business or procurement, with a preference to CIPSA-certification
