About the role

Working closely with the Database Team Leader you will contribute to client projects and build business development knowledge on how best to promote Coffey’s technical capabilities and offerings to clients.

A typical day might look like this:

  • Design and development of database solutions including for client-server, desktop and web platforms;
  • Design and development of web applications using the Microsoft technology stack;
  • Re-engineer and customise existing desktop database and applications from Microsoft Access to Microsoft SQL Server database system;
  • Be custodian and database administrator (DBA) of existing client-server databases and database applications running on desktop, web browser and mobile devices (tablets and smart phones);
  • Manage data including routine data QA/QC and data manipulation in commercial and in-house-built database systems, such as ESdat, gINT, ArcGIS Geodatabases, Asbestos Management Database;
  • Exploit opportunities and expand skills in geospatial data management and administration and enterprise GIS systems;
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, sub-consultants and stakeholders.

About you

To be successful in this role you’ll need to have:

  • a Bachelor degree, diploma, certificate or post graduate education in Computer Science, Information Systems or a similar major;
  • at least 2 years’ experience as a database developer or administrator role;
  • knowledge and experience of database development such as MS Access, SQL Server, My SQL, PostGreSQL.
  • knowledge and experience with C# .Net or Java/J2EE development.
  • an interest in or experience in geospatial data and GIS technologies will be highly regarded.
  • a base level understanding of project management elements.
  • excellent communication skills: being able to present appropriate information in a clear and concise manner both orally and written.
  • enthusiasm and motivation for the development of innovative and practical client solutions.
