The Clients and Markets (business development) team
The Clients and Markets team is responsible for providing services and strategic advice on client relationship management and business development, managing tenders, client events undertaking market and industry research and analysis, media and corporate affairs, legal communications and branding and design.
 
The role
This is an exciting opportunity that will see you strengthen and develop the firm's relationships and revenue position with key clients and potential pursuit clients. This includes the development and implementation of business and client development initiatives as well as professional support to the Head of Clients, Business Development Managers and Partners. We're after someone with a proactive approach and the confidence and ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a high pressure environment.
 
We are open to considering candidates at both the Co-Ordinator and Adviser levels depending upon experience.
 
 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing account plans and assisting with the achievement of account objectives;
  • Implementing client strategy requirements and providing marketing advice to client management team members on client initiatives;
  • Assisting with the client pursuit program and participating in identifying business opportunities through internal and external analysis;
  • In-depth understanding of nominated clients and their businesses and the markets the clients operate in;
  • Working on the client service program which includes involvement in client briefings, reviews, events and relationship meetings as appropriate.
  • Assisting in the implementation of an appropriate client communication plans
  • Taking an active role in business development projects that support the continuous process improvement of the Clients and Markets department.
  • Other ad-hoc activities and projects as required by the Head of Clients and Business Development Managers

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An exemplary academic record which will include a good tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years corporate experience, ideally in business development and marketing or related, but this is not essential. Experience at another law firm or professional service firm would be advantageous, but again this is not essential. Those who have worked in generalist business development capacity, particularly in transactional/ non-contentious practice groups are encouraged to apply.
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Office and a sound understanding of databases, ideally Interaction.
  • An analytical mindset to draw together themes, identify opportunities and report on markets, industry sectors, competitors and prospective clients.
  • The ability to work autonomously with minimal direction, to exercise judgment and make decisions.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and project management skills.
