The Role

Reporting to the Analytical Services Manager and based at our Yatala Brewery, the primary purpose of this role is to provide analytical chemistry support to the brewery production teams. This will involve the management and testing of beverages and in-process samples from across the brewery. You will also provide timely and accurate analytical data to various teams across the production plants and key customers, with a focus on achieving business goals.

The Team

You will be part of a small technical team that works collaboratively with the Brewing Production teams. The Team provides a critical service in ensuring product quality. This service enables production staff to ensure correct production decisions are made based on accurate and timely analytical assessments.

  • Sample preparation, testing and reporting of beverages and related in-process samples from CUB plants
  • Ensuring equipment is operated, maintained and calibrated according to manufacturers and/or CUB methods at the correct frequencies
  • Maintaining a safe & healthy work environment
  • Developing and maintaining technical skills to facilitate coverage across the process during peak production periods
  • Providing analytical troubleshooting and project support to the CUB production facilities
  • Implementing and maintaining processes, standards, and systems for the chemical testing requirements of CUB
    • A tertiary qualification in Chemistry or Food Science
    • Experience as an analytical chemist, laboratory technician or a similar role preferably within food & beverage
    • Excellent analytical chemistry skills and knowledge
    • High proficiency in chromatographic analytical instrumentation – HPLC and/or GC
    • Knowledge of calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
    • Practical working knowledge of HACCP, GLP, ISO9001
    • Advanced computer skills and report writing capabilities.
    • Strong organisational skills and communication skills, with a passion for being part of a collaborative team.
    • Good statistical understanding and the application of statistical tools in manufacturing /laboratory environments
    • Ability to work independently with confidence to escalate analytical issues with supervisor as they arise
    • SAP experience will be highly regarded
