About the opportunity


The Manager, Program Development & Evaluation will be part of a dynamic, results-oriented team, and will play an important role that develops, executes and reviews health risk management strategies that support the goal of sustainable affordability while also aiming to improve the health outcomes and experience of Bupa customers.

  • Contribute to the team’s thinking around health risk management and quality initiatives that:

    • Substitute for an inpatient hospital admission
    • Prevent a hospital admission
    • Assist customers to manage their health to avoid future hospitalisation
  • Lead the development of outcome evaluation methodologies incorporating a continuous review cycle;
  • Appraise the evidence base on the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of existing and/or new models of health service delivery;
  • Undertake quantitative analysis pertaining to the cost and utilisation of health services;
  • Source appropriate data and statistics relating to the cost and use of health services;
  • Lead the design, development and application of evaluation methodologies (including outcome measurement and reporting) to optimise service quality and value;
  • Assess and validate opportunities around strategies to manage health risk;
  • Assist in the procurement of programs/services including formalising contract arrangements.
  • Contribute new and innovative ways of delivering quality health programs/initiatives;
  • Provide feedback and consultation arounds areas for improvement and solutions that meet business needs;
  • Develop key relationships with external and internal stakeholders;

Your background

  • A minimum of five years health industry/health & economic evaluation experience;
  • Demonstrated analytical, evaluation and/or research skills in the areas of health care service delivery as well as being a strong critical thinker
  • A broad knowledge and understanding of the funding and provision of healthcare in Australia
  • Experience with interpreting and use of health data e.g. MBS, AIHW statistics
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing health programs/initiatives to improve health and economic outcomes
  • Extensive experience in Private Health Insurance, Private Health Care and/or Public Health Care Sectors
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and to work within various constraints.
