Position: Land Protection Officer – Coastal & Urban Areas
Location: Bundaberg
Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Level: 3 (Graduate Scale)
• $61,675 per annum
• Up to 12% Superannuation (Local Government Conditions apply to superannuation)
• 2 weekly Rostered days off

Industrial Instruments: Bundaberg Regional Council Certified Agreement 2011; Queensland Local Government Officers Award 1998

The Position:
Is responsible for coordination of controlling, monitoring, reporting and mapping of declared pests and enforcement of the Biosecurity Act 2014 on behalf of Council in the nominated area. The position will also be required to follow established procedures, develop educational resources, undertake foreshore rehabilitation planning, and assist in meeting departmental goals.

Selection Criteria:
1. Tertiary qualifications in natural resource management or relevant area; and/or relevant industry experience.
2. Demonstrated ability to meet objectives and deliver outcomes for Invasive Species Management operations.
3. Adequate experience in coordinating and planning Invasive Species Management activities with other council staff, contractors, government organisations, individual groups and the public.
4. Good knowledge of and skills in herbicide and pesticide use, integrated pest management theory, monitoring, and relevant invasive species legislation and policy.
5. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing vegetation rehabilitation programs.
6. Good written and verbal communication skills.
