Job description:

BlueScope is a world-class steel manufacturer and producer of steel products with businesses in Australia, Asia, the United States and New Zealand, with more than 100 facilities in 17 countries, employing over 16,000 people serving thousands of customers.

The Manufacturing business located in Port Kembla has an opportunity for several energetic, highly motivated, results oriented Electrical Engineering students to join our team. With a combination of part-time study and part-time work you will be provided one day per week to attend classes.

You will rotate through various departments so that you gain a good appreciation of the steel making process from smelting the ore, conversion to liquid iron and steel and then forming the raw steel into a finished product fit for use across Australia.

Electrical and automation technology play a critical role in the manufacture of steel products. During your cadetship you will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the different production processes and the electrical and automation technologies applied to all parts of the plant. Your initial development will include practical hands-on experience under the direction of experienced professional engineers. Later, you will work in multidisciplinary teams in roles including design and specification, construction and commissioning and process support and improvement. This experience will help develop your technical knowledge, planning and management skills to become a professional electrical and automation engineer.

Qualifications Required

You will currently be in your second year of study in Electrical Engineering at UOW.

An excellent communicator and team player, you will have strong organisation skills and a drive for results. You will show great agility to move between uni and your varied work tasks. This position really is an opportunity to put your skills on display and make your mark in an iconic Australian business. You will have access to training and development as well as access to further career opportunities within BlueScope. BlueScope values diversity and promotes an inclusive and supportive work environment. We are committed to your safety, learning and development.
