Home Health Aide

Qualification: this role doesn’t require a certification as on the job training is usually provided. These jobs are currently in high demand.

Hours: flexible

Future prospects: typically advance into nursing or becoming a medical assistant.

 

Certified Nursing Assistant

Qualification: Graduate Certificate in Health Industry Management, Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management or Bachelor of Science (Applied Sciences).

Hours: 36 hours per week.

Future prospects: transition to a registered practical nurse, clinical nurse manager, clinical nurse specialist or an intensive care unit nurse.

 

Medical Receptionist

Qualification: this role doesn’t require any specific certification but knowledge and experience in the office and administration duties are desirable.

Hours: dependent on hours of operation at their situated facility.

Future prospects: most popular transition is into nursing, medical records or medical transcription.

 

Medical Transcriptionist

Qualification: this role requires either a Registered Medical Transcriptionist Certification (RMT) or a Certified Medical Transcriptionist Certification (CMT).

Hours: dependent on hours of operation at their appointed facility.

Future prospects: opportunities to move into roles as medical secretaries, medical assistants or health information technologists.

 

Dental Assistant

Qualification: Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting, Certificate 4 in Dental Assisting or an Advanced Diploma of Oral Health – Dental Hygiene.

Hours: dependent on hours of operation at their appointed facility.

Future prospects: transition to become dental hygienists or dentists.
