The Volunteer Emergency Relief Assistant (ERA) supports clients who are experiencing financial hardship through the provision of food parcels, food voucher, petrol voucher and PBS (chemist) prescriptions at our Inner City site, 11-19 Millers Court, Adelaide. The Volunteer Emergency Relief Assistant meets with clients through scheduled appointments, which are held weekly from Monday – Thursday, from 9 am – 11.30 am. Administrative tasks such as filing paperwork and tidying up the Emergency Relief room may also be undertaken by the Volunteer Emergency Relief Assistant when not meeting with clients. Volunteer Emergency Relief Assistants may serve people who are experiencing social isolation, homelessness, mental and physical health issues, intellectual or sensory disability, or come from a refugee or culturally diverse background.

We wish to recruit volunteers for this important role who are:

  • Respectful and courteous at all times to all visitors, volunteers and employees of Baptist Care.
  • Willing to learn and follow instructions.
  • Empathetic with people who experience hardship, loss, disadvantage and disconnection from the community.
  • Available to volunteer on a regular basis for at least one day per week (Monday - Thursday) from 9am – 11.30 am, for at least 3 months.

The following documents are required for all volunteers. Baptist Care will assist successful applicants to obtain these (at no cost to the volunteer):

  • DCSI Child-Related Employment Screening Check (less than 3 years old)
  • National Police Check (less than 12 months old)
  • Child Safe Environments Training certificate (less than 3 years old)

Candidates who are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
