One in three Australians will need blood in their lifetime. At the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, we’re entrusted with collecting, processing and delivering this vital supply. We also provide a range of other services to the healthcare sector related to transplantation and immunogenetics, testing, consulting, education and research.

An opportunity has arisen for a Research Assistant to join the growing Donor Research team. The Donor Research team applies behavioural and social science theory and methods to describe, explain, predict and influence blood donation behaviour. Our goal is to deliver leading edge research that translates into evidence-based business practice, while expanding academic knowledge about blood donation. The Research Assistant will contribute to this professional and close-knit team by providing research support across a number of projects on blood donation.

You will have:

• An Honours degree in psychology, public health, social sciences, or equivalent qualification
• Previous experience in a research role within the psychology, health or marketing field (with experience in an applied setting an advantage)
• Experience with quantitative research, including designing data collection instruments and statistical analysis using SPSS, STATA or other packages, is essential
• Experience with qualitative research, including designing data collection instruments, conducting qualitative research (e.g. face-to-face and online interviews and focus groups) and analysing qualitative data, is highly desirable.
• An emerging track record of publications in high quality journals is desirable.

You will also be:

• An excellent verbal and written communicator, including dissemination of research findings to other researchers and non-researchers.
• Enthusiastic about conducting research within an applied, multidisciplinary, non-academic setting, particularly the opportunity to translate research findings to improve outcomes.
• Keen to develop expertise and leadership in the blood donation field.
• Great with detail, analytical, able to problem solve and work under pressure.
• Able to work independently and in a team.

Your dedication and hard work will be rewarded with:

• Pride that your work will impact lives for the better
• Generous salary packaging benefits
• Corporate rates for private health insurance
