In Search of Safety- recruiting for 2017!

  • Assist with the delivery of an exciting community education program

  • Be part of the worlds largest Humanitarian organisation

  • Availability during business hours from 9am-3:00pm, Monday to Friday required

The Role

In Search of Safety is an interactive, educational program informing primary school students about the asylum seeker journey and the reasons why people seek protection in Australia.

The program presents students with a theoretical and practical introduction to facts about refugees and asylum seekers, as well as an opportunity to hear from someone who has sought protection in Australia and is now living in the Victorian community

The Volunteer Community Speaker will work with the Project Officer and Volunteer Facilitators to deliver In Search of Safety at participating primary schools in their local area. Volunteer Community Speakers will talk to students about their experiences of seeking asylum in Australia and the challenges faced in settling into life in the Victorian community.

About you

  • Feel comfortable in your communication and public speaking skills

  • Currently hold a Permanent Protection Visa or Temporary Protection Visa (TPV)

  • Are available during business hours (9:00am-3:00pm) and are available to commit to a minimum of one year during 2017

You will gain valuable experience whilst assisting the Migration Support Team with service delivery.
