Joint Health Command has an on-site medical imaging department located at the Enoggera Health Centre, Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera. Radiological support is usually arranged through contract with civilian providers, although the Medical Imaging Consultative Group, a tri-service group composed of Reservist and full-time ADF members, provides advice on matters affecting the provision of radiography in the ADF.

 

A radiography capability is a component of Army Operational Health Support facilities and is centric to 2nd General Health Battalion. The imaging section provides support during major ADF exercises and deployments away from fixed facilities. As an Army radiographer, you may also be required to participate in tri-service and multi-national operational and peacekeeping deployments.

Additional Information

Applicants for appointment to the RAAMC as a Radiographer must possess a tertiary qualification accepted by the Australian Institute of Radiography. This may include: an Associate Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Radiography or a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Imaging Technology.

 

Applicants must have completed a post-graduate clinical year of practice as required by the Australian Institute of Radiography; must be eligible for Ordinary Membership of the Australian Institute of Radiography; and must possess a Radiation 'Use Licence' issued by a State or Territory of Australia under the relevant Radiation Safety Act.
