A Research Assistant is sought to join the Paediatric Neurotrauma laboratory, headed by Dr. Bridgette Semple Ph.D., in the new Department of Neuroscience, Central Clinical School, Monash University at the Alfred Centre, Prahran. The role involves undertaking research related to the interests of this group. Specific research endeavours will involve investigating the biological mechanisms underlying long-term consequences after early life brain injury. This will entail use of live animal models of traumatic brain injury, neurobehavioural assessments, immunocytochemistry, molecular biology, and advanced neuroimaging techniques. The Research Assistant will be responsible for conducting experiments, analysing results and reporting on the findings. They may also be expected to be involved in the supervision of research students. A highly-motivated, hard-working researcher with skills in small animal handling and/or histology are essential criteria. Experience in immunocytochemistry and/or small animal MRI would be an advantage.
