Job description:
Global hotel giant Accor’s flagship Novotel Melbourne on Collins is looking for an experienced Executive Assistant Manager to lead its successful hotel team and drive operational performance.


Located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, the Novotel Melbourne on Collins is an iconic 380 room, 4 ½ star rated hotel situated above the luxurious and newly opened St Collins Lane Shopping Precinct.


As a strategic leader you will be responsible for managing a team of hospitality professionals and supporting business growth and development.


Reporting to the General Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate and manage the day to day operations of the hotel whilst leading and inspiring the team to enhance the guest experience – every guest, every interaction, every day.
  • Establish, implement and / or oversee departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures, conferring with the General Manager and Head of Departments as necessary.
  • Ensure that strategies and practices are in place to facilitate the efficient and effective staffing of department to achieve financial and service quality targets.
  • Maintain team focus on guest engagement, individualising and personalising service, encouraging the team to use initiative.
  • Recruit team members who are high potential hospitality superstars to WOW our guests!
  • Implement Accor training initiatives with particular emphasis on coordinated and structured on job training aligned with service standards and service procedures.
  • Achieve effective communication by briefing and debriefing staff, holding regular departmental meetings and actively encouraging transparent communication with other departments within the Hotel.
  • Attend to major operational problems and needs promptly including customer complaints, enquiries and requests.  Practice positive problem solving in all aspects of customer service.
  • Encourage customer feedback regarding product and services in the Hotel.  Listen to and take action on this feedback.
  • Plan and direct activities such as sales promotions, coordinating with other Department Managers as required
  • Review financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
  • Work together with trust so that colleagues and management meet the goals of the department/Hotel.
  • Relieve the General Manager during absences from the hotel.
As a suitable candidate you will possess:

  • Solid background across all operational departments
  • Previous experience in 4/5 Star at a similar level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Excels at operating in an fast paced environment
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
